The Victoria Family Court and Youth Justice Committee is composed of municipal councilors or public appointees, one from each of the 13 municipalities in the Greater Victoria area. Each School District in the Capital Regional District (SD 61, 62 and 63) may each appoint a member and the CRD Board may appoint up to 7 members.
Municipal Police and RCMP Officers attend to contribute to the knowledge of the committee as do groups such as the Peninsula Cross Roads Community Justice Program, the Native Friendship Centre, the Boys’ and Girls’ Club, the Foster Parent Association, and the Single Parent Resource Centre.
Representatives from the Ministries of the Attorney General, Public Safety and Solicitor General, Education, Children and Family Development, and Health are encouraged to attend meetings and assist at the sub-committee level as their input is also vital to our understanding of the services available to families and youth.
The municipal and school district representatives, along with CRD appointments comprise the Voting Members.
